Birdies

I went outside to take some photos of some of my flowers, but ended up taking shots of these birds instead. I thought the red one was kind of funny how he puffed out his chest at one point. The birds love my yard for some reason. I have already watched five eggs hatch and become birds and then leave the nest that was in my double impatients hanging basket. Now the birds just hang out there for no reason. I have to wonder if there is another nest somewhere in my backyard...

Wild Turkey

This morning I just happened to glance out my office window that looks out on my front yard, and I saw a wild turkey walking down the street. NO LIE!!! I see all kinds of wildlife here at my house. From coyotes to bunnies to wild turkeys, I feel like I have seen it all! The pictures aren't the best because they are taken from inside the house since I didn't want to open the front door and scare the turkey off...

Gardening Update

After a weekend of work, my flower beds are finished!! As you can see from the picture, we fixed the edging in the front yard. It looks so much better! I am no longer embarrassed! While I don't have any pictures of the flower beds in the back yard, I worked hard all day Sunday on them. I pulled the bermuda grass out of the beds, which is not an easy job. I put edging around the beds, and I put mulch in the beds. Thanks to the help of my parents, we were able to get the yard looking very nice! Now I just have to keep them looking nice all summer long! I am up to the challenge!!!

Gardening On a Hot Day...

My parents are visiting this weekend in order to help me with some yard work. After a trip to Lowe's today, me and my mom decided to put edging around the flower bed that surrounds my only tree in my front yard. We gave it a valiant effort, but ultimately failed. As you can see from the picture, we did a terrible terrible job! I am embarrassed to even look at it! Hopefully tomorrow we can go buy another piece of edging and try to redo the mess that we made! Tomorrow we will also tackle the flower beds in the back yard (weeding, mulching, and edging)! Photo updates to come tomorrow...
